Where little children do remarkable things

A family-run nursery school in Notting Hill, welcoming children from the age of two.

Welcome

I started Strawberry Fields in 1986 for my own two children.

I wanted a place where they would feel safe, deeply known and happy, and where learning was the best part of the day. That still shapes everything we do. My son Nathan was one of our very first pupils alongside his sister, and today he runs the school with me.

We’ve been referred to in print as ‘Notting Hill’s best-kept secret.’ However, it is a secret we are very happy to share with you.

We hope these pages give you a true feel for life at Strawberry Fields, and we would love to welcome your family to come and see it for yourself.

So much to discover

Literacy and mathematics

Individual attention. Strong beginnings.

Every day brings quiet, focused time with a teacher, building early literacy and mathematics at your child’s own pace. Through stories, phonics, conversation and practical number work, children develop the pleasure of reading, the confidence to express their ideas, and the curiosity to work out how things fit together.

The arts

Music, art and imagination

Creativity is part of every week, never an extra. Children sing with Mrs Turner, paint on large canvases, sculpt with clay, cook in our proper school kitchen, and put on plays in the hall. Visiting poets, musicians, puppeteers and authors come in to share what they do, and the children’s paintings and ceramics line our entrance hall from the moment you step inside.

Within the school day

So much to try

From French, drama and hands-on science to swimming, tennis, dance, gardening and Forest School, specialist teachers bring fresh possibilities into every child’s week, all within normal school hours and included in our fees. Along the way, children practise the everyday habits that matter most: listening, sharing, waiting their turn and being kind to one another.

What others say

Ofsted has rated Strawberry Fields Outstanding at every inspection, most recently in September 2024.

“You put so much effort into every part of the school experience for the children and the parents… Thank you so, so much for everything you do for us and for all of the kids. There really is no better place or better people than Strawberry Fields.”
A Strawberry Fields parent
“It’s time to say goodbye to such a magical school that really welcomed me to London when I was new and so daunted by the system. Best decision ever! I’ve made some of my closest friends here, and so have my children. I will always hold a special place for you in my heart.”
A parent, on leaving
“Maureen Turner, a gentle, unimpeachably discreet head who believes her celebrity-magnet nursery is the best-kept secret in London… Music is said to be the best in London, and pupils move on to the top preps.”
Tatler
“A good nursery is the first rung of a ladder that will take a child to the best public schools.”
The Sunday Times
“This elite nursery hidden modestly on the side of a church hall has immaculate surroundings and a charismatic headmistress.”
